Frequently asked questions about planning with Echo Effect.
Find clear answers about Canada-wide document workflows, package purchases, vault billing, privacy safeguards, and when to involve a lawyer.
Documents and legal validity
Questions about Canada-wide planning requirements, witnesses, and how drafted documents work inside Echo Effect.
Are these documents legally valid in Canada?
Echo Effect documents are designed for estate-planning workflows across Canada. Legal validity still depends on your province or territory, your personal circumstances, and proper execution, witnessing, signing, and storage. If your estate is complex, you should have a qualified lawyer review your documents.
Do I need witnesses for my will?
Signing rules vary by province and territory. In many cases, a will requires two witnesses who are present at the same time when you sign, and those witnesses should not be beneficiaries under the will. Echo Effect helps you prepare the document, but you remain responsible for completing the signing steps correctly for your jurisdiction.
Can I update my documents after I create them?
Yes. You can return to your dashboard, edit your saved information, and generate updated document versions whenever your package-covered needs, family details, assets, or instructions change.
Packages, pricing, and account access
Common questions about package combinations, vault billing, discounts, and what happens after purchase.
What package should I buy for a will and both POA documents?
Choose the Will + POA package if you want a will plus both powers of attorney in one purchase. If you only need a will, you can buy the will package on its own, and if you need probate or vault access, those can be added separately in the same checkout.
Can I start with one package and add more later?
Yes. You can buy one package now and come back later to purchase additional will, POA, probate, or vault packages. Your saved information remains in your account, so you do not have to start from scratch.
Will I lose access to my documents if I stop buying packages?
You will continue to see documents already created in your account, but access to create new paid documents depends on your remaining package entitlements. Vault access follows the active monthly storage package attached to your account. For billing or access questions, contact our team.
Security and privacy
How Echo Effect protects account data, planning records, and sensitive document information.
Is my data secure?
We use layered safeguards for account and document workflows, including encrypted transport, access controls, and protected storage practices for sensitive planning information. You should still use a strong password and secure the devices and email account connected to your profile.
Who can access my documents?
Only you and authorized administrative support personnel, when access is necessary for platform operations or support, can access your records. Document sharing, downloads, and account recovery actions are tied to your authenticated account and workflow permissions.
How do password resets and security emails work?
If you request a password reset, Echo Effect sends a time-limited link to your account email. Security-related messages such as verification and reset emails are meant to help protect access to your records and should be kept confidential.
Support and next steps
What to do when you need help with product questions, billing, or estate-planning workflow issues.
Does Echo Effect provide legal advice?
No. Echo Effect is a document and planning platform, not a law firm. We provide guided tools and product support, but we do not give legal advice or legal representation.
How can I contact support?
You can use the Contact Us page to reach the Echo Effect team for product questions, billing concerns, access issues, or workflow guidance. Messages are routed to info@echoeffect.ca.
When should I speak to a lawyer instead of relying only on templates?
You should speak with a lawyer if you have business ownership interests, blended family arrangements, beneficiaries with special needs, cross-border assets, tax-sensitive planning goals, or any situation where your planning documents could require custom advice.
